The software uses the Crystal Report 2008 Service Pack 2 runtime.
If your system does not have Microsoft's .NET Framework 2.0 or better, it will be installed with Report Viewer.
If you are installing Report Viewer side-by-side with a full install of Crystal Reports 2008, you will have to update your full install of Crystal Reports 2008 to Service Pack 2. You do not need to update older installs of Crystal Reports.
If you get a connection error when opening or refreshing a report, then the computer you are using is not correctly set up to access the database that is referenced in your report. Make sure that the client computer has a database driver or ODBC driver for the database referenced in the report. If you attempt to override the database settings inside Report Viewer, note that the “server” and “database” fields should often hold the name of your database diver; that is, they should hold the DSN. In almost all cases the driver or DSN holds the server hostname and database name.
If you get a message that states that a table is missing, you have connected to your database but you have permissions problems. You should contact your database administrator to assist you in resolving this issue.
The software depends on the Crystal Reports runtime, and there may be issues that the Report Viewer team can not solve, but there may be fixes for these problems on the SAP site.
Some people get an error when exporting to Excel. This is very rare, it is a known problem with the Crystal Reports runtime, and it is fixable. The details are at this link.
Help keep the price of Report Viewer down. Bandwidth is expensive. Please download a copy of the software to your local network, and distribute among your community, as opposed to having each of your team members downloading from the Internet.
If you would like to notify others of Report Viewer, please link them to the www.thereportviewer.com site. Report Viewer is continually updated, and we don’t want users downloading outdated software.
